I can not emphasize enough how important it is to re-watch the videos you already “know”.
For example; introductory to wing chun part 1 and part 2. It has so much valuable information in it 💯
If you’re a new student or a seasoned practioner, it is so important to go back and watch it again.
Many times I’ve found myself looking for the next big…[Read more] -

Hi Marquis,
I was trying to find your original message where you mention not being able to find section 7, well I typed ‘Dummy 7’ into the search and it took me straight to it, but it was actually in 11.1 for some reason?
When I get a chance I will move this but first need to run some things passed our tech guy.
Hope you get this and thank you…[Read more]

Thanks for the reply.
I agree it’s a funny feeling but I’ve been trying to find a way. When I play the dummy I always do it left hand and right hand, therefore twice through in total minimum. I make the changes where necessary to ensure the right side is done the same as the left side. Which means I don’t have a difference on that garn once…[Read more]

An interesting video, and I love the ‘Gameboy’ graphics.
I haven’t watched it all but I think I see your question, unfortunately, I could NOT see, his legs, so I cannot fully comment on what’s going on there.
It appears that he is referring to the power coming from the hips, rather than suggesting that the feet do not move at all.
The student…[Read more]

Hi Lee,
Just noticed your post, I’m about to give a lesson now, so I will look at the video later but was itching to mention something regarding the stepping in comment.
‘I recall you mentioned that his back foot shouldn’t slide on the Kwun.’This is only if you are tall enough to be able not to, meaning, do not step or shuffle unnecessarily, w…[Read more]

Hi Sifu
I watched a Moy Yat video on YouTube the other day. Some parts I thought were extremely interesting
Moy Yat link – https://youtu.be/n7ldFIt38LE?si=muvPZQAi5-3eph5O
At 9:15mins he explains about the Garn Sau in the first section. It’s a rotation of the hips he says. Loved it as soon as I heard it.
Reason being – some weeks ago Nick p…[Read more]

Wow!! I don’t know how I missed that blog in the past. But that was such great information. Thank you so much Si-Fu! It really cleared up a ton of things for me. It’s funny I had no questions for the last 2 years. I was just training and learning by doing. But now I’m at the stage where I’m looking for understanding of what I’m doing. And this is…[Read more]

Lee, I just looked at Module 7.8 as you referenced and you are correct. Si-Fu says on the bong Sau our wrist should be in center when practicing on the wooden dummy. Which is why we use the blade edge and not the forearm. Thank you my friend! Your always very helpful and usually the first to answer my questions haha. Hope you are well with your…[Read more]

Hi Marquis
I Will take a shot at the answer.
Because you are in a turned stance, or the destination of the finished bong. Therefore the incoming punch has been moved off centre with the bong and the turn. Without the turn the punch stays on the face.
There is also explanation here 7.8 Muk Yan Jong Fat (Wooden Dummy Technique) Section 1 ,…[Read more]

I must say even when I was at the class there is always something to review.
Simply by re-taking the class on catch up is a must. There is always something I missed or find it more interesting; many times I will stop the catch up class and do the techniques over and over. This is to see and feel the techniques or issue manshioned.
Always view the…[Read more] - Load More
