Hello Sifu,
English is not my language so please read this message as an absolutely polite message 🙂I just want to warn you about some unordered or missing course items:
- The “18.6 Siu Lim Tau Recap” lesson is missing. It returns a 404 html error
- 8.1 Muk Yan Jong Fat Basic – Section 3: seems unordered, explaining the advance before the b…

Hi all, sorry I’ve not been as active here lately, uni’s been getting tough.
I just noticed that the ticket for the 10-1 club on the main page doesn’t link to anything. I tried to click on the “click here for more information” and nothing happened.

HA ha ha ha!
This is SO true.
I never thought to mention this before but I always simply think of it as going back to the start again ‘after’ the 50.
Good call 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’d just like to point out that when we do our set of 50 chain punches that when we count the back hand 25 times, you need to also add 1 punch.
In other words, you will always end up with the same hand in mun sau that you started with in the mun sau position.
Your front hand will still be your front hand.
We don’t want to short ourselves by…[Read more] -

I like this very much indeed!
Thank you!

Thanks Sifu. This is a great help. The more I look at the styles that punch through with the focus on the top two knuckles, the more I understand the difference, use and intention.
Thank you! Enjoy your day!

It is true that power and bone alignment can be strong when connecting the index and middle knuckles, with the forearm bones BUT this does rely on hitting through AKA overcommitting, in addition to this, you need to raise your elbow to the side in order to drive this through, therefore telegraphing your intent through this chambering action AND…[Read more]

I could not agree more Nick, your wording there is 100% with the Wing Chun I am trying to pass on…
Also not forgetting the:
‘And yes, we train to be able to end a conflict quickly if all else fails’
Just in case we are being a bit feeble with our thinking.Remember,

Hi Sifu,
I came across a question tonight that is a bit above my pay grade. In summary it sounds like this…
Why does the WC punch use the last 3 knuckles?
To several here it seems so counterintuitive to what they have previously been taught considering the last 3 knuckles in bareknuckle fighting are the easiest to break, hence the term”boxers f…[Read more]

I have so loved this thread. There is so much more Wing Chun here to be discussed. I see how much the onus is on us to help others understand that we are not here training to fight. We train to understand the mechanics and components of a fight. We train to identify a conflict, deescalate a conflict and even walk away from a conflict. And yes, we…[Read more]

Hi Nick,
So busy, only getting to this now… as for-
“what would be a proper counter to a wrist lock performed from the position of the one who was just lapped (using the free hand to take hold of wrist still holding their bong)”
Your answer is spot on, this is a wing chun drill, not aikido 🙂
A drill is prearranged understanding of a…[Read more] -

All are welcome of course but I guess as long as you have some basics, you should be ok. 🙂

I’ve been running through these thoughts and video links you have both shared and I just needed to say thank you again. We certainly are not in class together but I am walking away with enough knowledge like I am.
I am telling you… Training online with all of you is not only possible but also extremely effective!!!!
Thank you!

Hi guys
My take on it is that I don’t regard lap as a thing to do where I do not hang onto it for overly long periods. Just enough to punch.
Hopefully I’m understanding the details from Nick.
The lapper could in the first instance punch with the other hand. This removes the need for a counter. They could also gum as in second section of SLT…[Read more]

I’d re-emphasize the point that we are NOT training to do the lap in this exercise. In fact, just about everything from the perspective of the person performing the lap is incorrect.
I think you’re right on with, this being a “drill” and that we wouldn’t just sit there; there will be a follow up attack. The follow up attack being from the…[Read more] -

Sifu, I have a question that was posed to me this week that I find rather difficult to answer.
The scenario…
We were training lap sau exercise with lap and punch changes. One student, trained in wrist locks, asked what would be a proper counter to a wrist lock performed from the position of the one who was just lapped (using the free hand to t…[Read more]
