I like your thinking
Errors are good, and essential, if we learn from them, the disease is when people believe that they have no mistakes, when that happens, you’re done.

Hey Lee!
How great to hear from you!
Regarding the HK comments, this is usually either done because;
A – there is something being offered and therefore taken (if someone is pulling you in, so you push them – or – if someone is pushing you in so you pull them)
OR
B – they’re just being a twat π
Either way, you can go with it (yield or…[Read more]

In all of these, still ‘try’ to think of contact being with the blade (except for the Huen of course).
Although we THINK of the blade, in some cases there ay be more surface contact, in the same way as we PUNCH with the bottom three knuckles but in truth, make contact with the full bottom half of the base three fingers.
I do hope that makes sense?

Hi Richard, great to hear from you!
Please forgive the delay but I seem to have been rushed off my feet lately π
The main thing to remember here is:
“If it’s not comfortable, it’s not right”
So the fact that this feels too wide for you is a great thing.Yes you are correct regarding the less of an angle idea, I’m guessing that in the video I…[Read more]

Hi Sifu
Hope you are good.
A bit of a rambling question this one.Iβm coming to realise I do not like being perfect in chi sau. Iβm preferring to have errors
What I also donβt like doing is stopping rolling because of an error, correcting and proceeding again because Iβm perfect again.
Within all of that Iβm then thinking if my bong is c…[Read more]

Hi Sifu
Hope you are goodIβm wondering about the pushing and pulling in the video as described that may happen in HK.
Would it be wrong to not offer any resistance when someone is trying to do this? So just absorbing or yielding as much as possible to prevent being c…[Read more]

If there is something you wish me to take a look at, record it and upload to a site of your choice, then send me the link, you could simply delete it after I’ve given feedback.
Or if it is a small file, you could email it to me?

Good day Sifu.
I have more questions on kicks that I thought may make for an appropriate topic to explore here on the forum.
The question is simple really…
Where should I think about making contact with my kicks? If we have the toes, bridge, ball, mid-foot (arch), heel and blade. Is it always the same? Does it depend on what is available…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I’m Richard, from near Middlesbrough. I look to learning with you all π
I’m just going through the first part of the first course, and have a question, if someone could help, please:
I’m not sure if this matters at all, but when opening YGKYM using the toes out, heels out, method, there ends up being quite a bit more space between…[Read more]

I’ve approved your group request now, but still, it’s ok to post on here, I tend to use the FB group for posting videos etc (much easier than on here for that stuff).

Wow that’s great idea! π I didn’t even think about recording myself and comparing them to the videos side-by-side – I really like that idea and feel that’s a perfect checking point for a beginner like me.

A solid (and honest) question.
The simple fact is that this is what the videos are there for, for you to check yourself, and this is best done by videoing yourself on your phone and comparing, BUT, that’s only the start, I will see any flaws if you ever get to join us on the live classes, AND, I’v eno problem with you sharing your forms to let me…[Read more]
