Hi Rayhan,
Just to add what everyone else said, for the stance, it is technically a training stance (not really a fighting one). So, the way you shifted to feel weight on the thighs is right, but I know Sifu has a saying that it takes effort to get Wing Chun wrong. In other words, he would probably prefer the one where you feel more…[Read more]

Hi Michael,
I’m so sorry to read your story.I have practiced Karate and Kendo for the last 30 years and it was full of people with huge egos.
Once I started training in Wing Chun at Sifu’s school in Leeds UK, no one as an ego. Everyone is respectful and that is beginners to all instructors. That was the biggest thing that hit me, I was actually…[Read more]

Hi Lee,
I had a video on this but for some reason I cannot find it?
As for your question:
‘The low hand on the garn, you describe as going under the third arm, kinda like a huen. Why is that please? I do do it all the time without issue but why do we do it rather than going straight for the palm strike above the arm.’This is so we get used to…[Read more]

Oh and as a side note, Sifu himself does this from time to time when he wishes to focus on wrist energy, but it not the usual way.
If you remind me, I will tell a story of this at the Thursday class.

Hi Lee and how nice to hear from you.
First of all, sorry for the delay but with being away on holiday a couple of weeks, I had a back log of things to catch up with.
Regarding your question, what YOU say is correct, however (and I do not like to contradict others…. but)
“So I was told that the Wassau hand when it comes back has got a remain…[Read more] -

I do do it all the time without issue but why do we do it rather than going straight for the palm strike…[Read more]

Hi Sifu
This one is from my local class and I’m asking because I was a little bit peeved by something I was told.
Before I get there though I want you to know I’ve really been practising the siu lim tau 30 minutes at a time basically As often as I can for a number of weeks.
So within there, I’m thinking a lot about my elbow and making sure…[Read more]

Most definitely. Back in 2018 when I had joined your online school for the first time, I was already pretty impressed by your study materials. Compared to where I used to train before, your teachings just felt much more intuitive and natural to learn and get better at. It felt far more frictionless. So now in 2024, after 6 years of break, I…[Read more]
