HA! That really made mw chuckle. 🙂
So did you find the answer?
First of all I would say not to get too stuck on ‘Precision’ when talking ‘Reality’ but basically you would find yourself along the lines of, step through 90 to the right and immediately turn (with your attention constantly on your opponent).

Hi Shamala,
Within those videos there is also a mention of using a block from the position you are in..
What this means is that if a slap or a hook punch comes around, you would not be trying to defend it with a Pak Sau but more with a Biu (demonstrated as a wave in the video).
Regarding reaching the chin, hit what you can, a punch to the…[Read more]

Hello Shamala and welcome to the family,
First of all I would say that when you learn Wing Chun and become skilled in it you will develop an overall understanding of general defence, with the ability to mould to whatever comes in.
We do not teach specific blocks for specific strikes.
This is because it is dangerous to ‘engage your brain’ in…[Read more]

Hi Jacob and thank you for your kind words.
A good and honest question and one I’ve heard many times.
It took me a moment to get back to you as I was looking for an old blog where I’d approached this very issue. The blog below is from July 2017:In addition to that blog,
One of my…[Read more] -

Hi Ralph,
By the library I am referring to the general library of videos, by using the search tool (the magnifying glass) on the top menu at the right hand side.

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Chuen mar in the forum Members Forum 8 years, 11 months ago
Hi Mathew,
There will be a video to explain this but it is the same stance with the hips facing at 45 degree angle. Whether it is Biu mar or Chuen mar is defined by where the attention is focussed.
If facing in line with the heels Biu mar
If facing out to the side (in line with the back knee) Chuen mar
Hope this helps?

Hi Mathew,
In short, YES. 🙂
Unless you wanted to incorporate a turning stance in the move, which would finish with you facing left.
Now does THAT make sense?

Hi Robert,
That’s great news but do be aware, I have spent the last 30+ years studying under Ip Chun, therefore I will only be able to grade Ip Chun Wing Chun.
My belief is that forms are your blueprints and these need to be PERFECT, applications can be open to interpretation but the pattern and precision itself must be 100%The fact that you…[Read more]

Hi Brian,
I wrote a big story on the subject and then forgot to press send! So when I came back to it I was logged out and the info lost. ARGH!
Anyway:
The lesson is called Explosive Energy and the lessons are on 2nd sec of SLT, which is all about building explosive energy (so no problem there), plus, if something is repeated it is often…[Read more] -
