Hi Frank,
I’ll try give more detail to this in a blog for you later today.
I’m on my way back to Northampton from Harris in the Outer Hebrides, 12 hours driving yesterday and the second leg about to begin shortly!
This was a quick chance for me to catch up with a moments sneaky wifi. 🙂

EVERYTHING, in Wing Chun is punches.
By that I mean, your front hand becomes your back, and your back hand becomes your front.
If I Lap and punch, my front hand (the Lap) will come back as my punch (the back hand) goes forward.
The same is to be said for Paks:
As I step in for a Pak, my back hand goes forward, passing the lead arm (therefore…[Read more] -

A fair question, and the answer… Both.
Where to start..
Outside Pak – This is done to the base of the forearm and usually with a turn.
If we are standing face to face, square on, and you punch to my centre, by Paking near your elbow AND just to centre, that will be enough to send your fist PAST my shoulder.Inside Pak – This is down to the…[Read more]

I think you’ve said enough.
It’s not for me to talk bad of people but it does shock me how individuals can be drawn into an almost cult mentality, and I’m not talking about him by the way.
Although he does have the largest association in the world, with over 100,000 members, which does tend to make a person in awe of such.
Good luck I say. It…[Read more]

Hi Steve,
Nice to hear from you again.
Sorry for the delay in replying, I’ve been teaching at a weekend retreat in the middle of woodland, with zero signal.
I’ve a big smile at the thought of your LONG post, and as it’s 11.00pm and I am shattered after the weekend and a 5 hour drive, I think I will read this in the morning so as to fully digest…[Read more]

Yes, turned out is correct!
Completely straight (vertical) fists would force the elbows out.
Relaxing the elbows and allowing then to drop, would create the fists to turn out (slightly) as you have just shown.Thank you for the…[Read more]

Frank,
Here we are again.
You know what? I’ve been watching this guy and perhaps he’s ok.
What he is teaching IS NOT Ip Chun Wing Chun OR that of Ip Ching, BUT, if he is openminded then perhaps he could be interesting for you.
AS LONG AS, he does not say that what you are doing is wrong.
I do not know if I answered your straight fist…[Read more]

Hi Frank,
I do not know what to say?
I’ve never heard of this guy and I know all Ip Chun’s students, as for Ip Ching, he is a very close friend and again there’s nothing through him either.
I think the guy has probably done some Wing Chun and then trained with someone from each of these lineages, but as for being certified. By who I…[Read more] -
