You could use a combination of the two:
Learn the pattern from Mo Jong
Learn the applications from Dummy appsThat way you have the form pattern PLUS an understanding of what is actually intended while being played out.
Hope it helps,
Sifu

That’s great, but do remember the study of Mo Jong (No Dummy) is possibly easier to learn first.
Please let me know if the site is up again and if you get through ok?
Thank you

Sorry for the delay but I’ve been away on family matters.
I contacted the seller straight away and asked him to answer you via the forum, obviously he hasn’t so I’ll check on that again for you.
Thank you

Oh I see!
Thanks Matt.
Yes, we had this before when I added videos and reorganised things. I’ll look for it for you.
We’re planning a major change again for the new year which will allow an easier flow throughout the courses AND a search engine with categories.
Thank you again for pointing this out.

Hi Matt,
Glad you’re enjoying the training!
Are you saying that there’s;
7.6 Chum Kiu Applications – Section 3B
but not a Chum Kiu Applications – Section 3A?Looking into that module I do see that the running order is not as it should be, but maybe just use initiative as to which will follow which (and I do hope that does not sounds sar…[Read more]

Hey Frank, how nice to hear from you!
Sorry for the delay, I just returned from Hong Kong a few hours ago.
Chu Shong Tin was a good man with great energy, known as the ‘King of Siu Lim Tau’.
I met him many times and he even came to the UK to visit my school, as for sparring and where power comes from, everyone has their own opinion, but Master…[Read more]

In short, whatever works, works.
I had an idea of using this for a terminology blog soon so look out for it.
But basically, when you see the attack coming in, you are moving to cover or block it, HOW it gets there or what it LOOKS like, will define the technique, as all the moves in Wing Chun are just descriptions of what ‘just happened’.

Hi Derrick and thank you for your question, it’s always good to check.
Initially I would say that this just needs practice, however, in reference to your wording:
‘should we still be using the singular form? (ie slide down the wall, replace the punch with the back hand)’The answer would be, No.
There are different stages leading up to the perf…[Read more]

I absolutely agree (Oh and did you like the blog? That was for you).
My point was that WC is a VERY effective streets self defence, BECAUSE of the strikes to the eyes and throat etc., so to enter a comp where these are not allowed, would not be a true test of your WC.
Sparring IS good, and it’s good to feel a punch too, and to land them if I’m…[Read more]

Hey Frank!
Interesting points indeed but it’s worth asking yourself what kind of a life you wish or intend to live.
Training in Wing Chun for instance, with the purpose of only wanting to learn to fight, CAN end up being a waste of time.
Let me explain by giving a different train of thought:
With THAT attitude you may train for ten years for a…[Read more]

Hi James,
Wow, that was direct! 🙂
Well to start with, yes there is a place for you if you really want it.
The teacher training and support is basically me giving you lesson and programs to try to help you and your group improve (depending on how many there are in your group and at what level of study of course).
Q and A is just your…[Read more]
