Hi Joseph,
I am very annoyed at writing this reply as I’d done an epic, sent it, and it crashed! NOOOOOOOOOO!
Short version example for you…
R foot forward in BM – heels in line – BUT – both feet are to the LEFT side of that line
when the R foot steps back it will land with the heel on the same line (at this point freeze framed you’d look…[Read more] -

So sorry Matt,
It was the teaching of the third section wasn’t it?
We were working on a restructure of the lesson plans and then things got held up due to people missing because of other commitments on a long build up to Christmas. Hopefully we’ll get back on track very soon.
I found these videos in Vimeo but I do not know why they dropped out…[Read more]

Is the problem that you’re swinging too far round or not enough?
This will help me understand where you may have misdirection.

Hi Joseph,
First of all think of the wrist point as a reference for contact of the punching hand only.
Regarding the defending of the punch itself;
1/
In the relaxed mode, if the elbow is high then you collapse the forearm onto the Lapping back hand.and
2/
If you are choosing to use power, think of this ‘blocking’ action being like that of…[Read more] -

Hi Simon,
This of course is a common issue, but I will make a series of videos that will help you in this area.
Also look out for a blog in the next couple of weeks which will give a different point of view to solo training.
Thank you,

Joseph my friend, you are too kind, thank you.
Relaxation IS important, and of course LOTS of practice, but the wonderful thing about Wing Chun is that nothing is carved in stone, and in time you will adapt it to make it work best for you.
Regarding your wording ‘I had meditated and pondered on what baseline skills anybody would need to be able…[Read more]

HA HA HA !!!
This is brilliant, really made me giggle. In short NO, there is no kicking form. THAT’S WHY IT’S A SECRET! 🙂
I never talk ill of anyone but this is just silly.
The in structor there is Austin Goh and he just adds on loads, think of this, there are on two kicks in Wing Chun, a front kick and a side kick.
Keep it simple, simple…[Read more] -

Hi Faisal,
As a non-member your friend can LOOK at the assessments by going to MY ACCOUNT – GRADING ASSESSMENTS
BUT, as a non-member he would not be able to grade as assessment opportunities are seen as a member privilege.
I’m sure you understand.
Thank you

Hi Connor, Kanak,
Unfortunately it would not be possible (or fair) to show anyone else’s assessments (as I am sure you can understand). When a test video is sent to me, I will study it, give feedback (and possible certification), but as soon as I know this feedback has been received, I will delete the assessment.
The same is said for a grading…[Read more] -

Hi Frank,
Frustratingly I cannot find the clip I am wanting you to see. Of course if I find it I will send it.
Basically I am so often asked about the ‘trapping’ in WC, usually from JKD guys, and yet even though WC is full of them, I do not know what they are…
Do not be concerned by this comment, what I mean is this,
What one person calls an…[Read more] -

Hi Frank,
Do you mean locking as in trapping, like the kind of thing that would get a tap out?
If so I do not believe in them as I tend to focus on the two on one mentality, I’ll try to follow up on this a little more for you tomorrow.
As for chin na, yeah, sort of, I hear this stuff presented in a way that for me complicates unnecessarily, and…[Read more]

Hi Kanak and welcome to the family!
We’re so happy you’ve joined us, and do not worry about the past, let’s now look to the future.
Your question is very good, and if I am honest, I’m not sure, but I will ask our tech guys at our next meeting.
We’re planning a few changes for the start of the new year with the idea of making easier access and…[Read more]

Hi James,
I see what you mean, how odd, if you can avoid that lesson for now, we’re having a restructure regarding modules and I will be going through every video to make sure there are where they should be.
Thank you for the update,
Sifu
