Hi Sifu,
Thank you kindly for your reply.
Yes i do, but not for anything except womens self defence (community volunteer) and work, since i work in law enforcement, with a substandard work self defence training regime. I regularly run workplace drill scenarios that apply in our environment. Some of my colleauges dont even know how to break a head lock or a simple grab hold, since it’s only / mostly done in beginner training and refresher training and is very limited within their budget.
I am actually hoping to start a local group since my area does not have any wing chun in master chuns lineage. I want to stick to this, since the closest wing chun is far, overseen by sifus whom are extremely commercialised.
I have ambition, however it’s only ambitious at this stage, with my learning still at beginner and i train 1-2 hours a day with my wife. Longer 6 hour sessions on weekends that are off. Above this, my area is saturated in mma styles and numbers are only ever steady in those, with the ever increasing demands on finances and long work hours. Possible unhealthy weight gain and a general lack of physical movement by a larger than normal represeted demographic which reduces interest, i am still determined to start a group, not for commercial gain, but for the purposes of fitness, self defence and maintaining the originality of wing chun, as you teach it, respecting homage to master chun and his father ip man. I am excited to continue the training journey and enjoying the practice whilst really looking forward to the partner training this weekend, after spending extensive hours learning the stepping, punches and hand forms.
