I love that quote. It’s true. I make this look so difficult. You and your team make it look so easy! 🙂

Thank you Sifu! We are practicing again today. I’ll have Richard read your feedback as well.
Follow up question: should we master the first set of videos (module one I think) before going on to the next one? Or does module two review what I’m learning here?

Hi All,
My name is Monroe, from New York. I’ve just started the program. I found my way here first after seeing all the wing chun dummy videos on YouTube and trying to figure out what it was all about. I ended up enrolling in the Krav Maga program at GMAU, but really wanted to find a similar program online for Wing Chun. This one was clearly the best.
I’m enjoying the classes so for, and look forward to learning more.
Two questions:
a) Are there belts in Wing Chun, or simply certifications? If the latter, is there some form of testing to show my skills so I may earn a certificate?
b) Will I eventually learn how to practice on a Wing Chun dummy? Thanks!

Wise words. As someone with a PhD in psychology, and as someone who has this festering regret from the past, I have to say that your newly minted quotation is chock full of wisdom. We are always ruminating on the past, ‘hoping to understand it better’, and hoping, that by thinking about it, we will overcome the regret. But you’re right, only by actively moving forward will I be able to better understand the past. It won’t happen by just staring at the past. However, by fully embracing the present, and moving into the future with arms wide open, perhaps the past will soon begin to make more sense. It’s not about “Getting over it” and “Move on already!” (advice that does more harm than good), but rather, “Moving forward (so that you can soon better understand the past).” Love it!
Thanks for the wise insight Sifu! I am going to use this quotation in the future, always crediting you with the wisdom.
Okay then! I will move on to Module 2. 😀
ONWARD!

Is this group of NYers still training? It would be nice to get together and practice if there are…

All very cool Sifu Ward. Wooden Dummy, here we come 😀
If I’m here in NY the next time you meet, I’d be honored to meet you. I may be in Florida. Or Nevada. Moving somewhere else in all likelihood. Not yet sure. Time will tell. Looks like you had a great time in Central Park!
I’m sure people have told you that you look like Pierce Brosnan with your mustache and beard. Haha. A Kung Fu Movie Star.
Thanks again for this opportunity for me to learn Wing Chun Kung Fu.

All sounds great. Yes, right now, just watching the videos and pratising in front of a mirror seems like a good starting point. As I progress, receiving the regular weekly feedback seems like precisely what I’ll need to ensure I’m doing it all correctly. Back to the course!
Oh forgot to ask: at what point would I prepare my first certification video? Is there a certification after each module? Where can I read the testing requirements so I know what I should focus on?

Thanks Sifu. Very excited that I stumbled upon Kung Fu! A dream is coming true. Lesson 1.4 complete, and on to 1.5.

Hi Sifu Ward,
Do you check our form and technique via some form of test? I’d very much like to know that I’m actually doing the technique properly.
