I’ve been running through these thoughts and video links you have both shared and I just needed to say thank you again. We certainly are not in class together but I am walking away with enough knowledge like I am.
I am telling you… Training online with all of you is not only possible but also extremely effective!!!!
Thank you!

Sifu, I have a question that was posed to me this week that I find rather difficult to answer.
The scenario…
We were training lap sau exercise with lap and punch changes. One student, trained in wrist locks, asked what would be a proper counter to a wrist lock performed from the position of the one who was just lapped (using the free hand to t…[Read more]

Cheers Sifu,
I make this submission not only to express my gratitude but to also open up for discussion, among the WingChun.Online community, the experience I am having as a pupil.
I do hope one day I’ll get to ask you all my questions. The further down the path I travel, the more beautiful things become (& clearer).
As much as it is in f…[Read more]

Recently as per Sifu Ward’s suggestion to explore the 3 forms at different rates of speed and power.
I tried them at a Tai Chi speed very soft and flowing easy.
It seems to add another depth of the forms both mentally and physically.
Holding a pose adds muscle memory, while adding to awareness of the movement.
In the Spring, I will be in the…[Read more] -

Thanks Lee and Duanne (auto correct didn’t “fix” your name this time.) 😀
I love having a place like this that I can connect with you guys. Thanks for sharing. I am so glad you did!
As I reflect on your insights, I hear you both saying:
I can do whatever I want in Chi Sau provided…
1) I can get away with it
&
2) It was my choice!
Got it!!!…[Read more]

Greetings Sifu,
During our training here, I have seen a problem arise that I believe needs to be addressed. In summary, while rolling in Poon Sau, when a change is initiated from the fook sau position (pushing down), the person holding the Tan is naturally reacting by tensing and lifting.
My initial response has been Luk Sau Jic Kuen. This…[Read more]

😂😂😂 Wow! Feisty! 😂
Thank you for this. What a great story, which I know I’ll enjoy passing along when the question comes!
Speaking of the second section of Chum Kiu, everyone here always loves the explanation that comes with the closing technique that “has no name”, except now there is another link… lol.

Thank you for (always) a great class Sifu.
This is the topic you were referring to during our training. Just as an observation here, in the video, the double gums are being applied. It seems to me this is precisely the point you were stating… “it is vital” to its understanding, even though they have been removed.
I will remind you Thursday if…[Read more]

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can you offer some insight into why the young man in the video added them and do you advise that we play with it sometime, to simply better understand application even though they were removed?
This is such a great video! It has me thinking.
Thank you!!!!!!

Sifu,
When we’re the extra gums removed from the wooden dummy form of section 7 & 8?
If I may ask, was this a simplification made by you or Si-gong. I’m just wondering so I can pass along accurately. 😀
You might want to sit down before watching this flashback! 😀
Thank you!!!!

n. francis replied to the topic Tok Sau in the forum Members Forum 3 years, 8 months ago
Ahhh!!! Yes! Makes sense. I’ve been pondering this one for weeks.
If you use a Tok Sau from a Tan/Bong then opponent may also Jum that Tan before the Tok Sau contact is even made.
Equally to be aware of is that if you try to Tok Sau from a Fook / Bong your open for a strike from their Tan.
Which again explains why we follow the energy flow a…[Read more]

n. francis replied to the topic A Reason for everything… ? in the forum Members Forum 3 years, 8 months ago
[Answer]
My interpretation of this would simply be that this is our closing to the form. If you would like, it’s taking a deep, relaxed breath as we close the stance , then holding for a moment and breathing out as we push our hands down the side.

So, it seems to me, that everything we do in Wing Chun has a purpose. Is this true?
If so…
What is the reason that we…

Ok, so… this has been a hard one for me. I don’t really know what I am asking here.
I guess I am just thinking through this application.
From the Tan / Bong position (one option):
• If I lift the right bong, making way for a left handed Tok sau, this may create an opening for a right side palm (underneath), provided I watch for a strike co…[Read more]

Hi Sifu,
I am having a difficult time imagining how the Tok Sau can be used in Chi Sau? You mentioned this last week in class while clarifying its definition and usage in the third section of Siu Lim Tau.
I can see its application in response to an attack, like adding it to a defensive inside Pak. Is this what you had in mind or were you…[Read more]
