Hi,
My name is Howard and I live in the middle of rural Wales!
I just thought I’d say hi. I was not going to bother posting but then thought that this is a club not just a cold website, so wanted to say hi to my fellow club members.
I have practiced karate before but, after getting seriously ill with sepsis in 2018 I thought my martial arts d…[Read more]

Dear Sifu Ward,

I find myself reminiscing about being able to train under your guidance in person. However, your…[Read more]

Thank you for this wonderfully kind and encouraging response Sifu.
To be honest..
1) I was actually looking for ways to rescind my post. Ultimately, I left it because I know that I cannot be the only one who feels this way from time to time. We are all in this together and I want others to be encouraged as well.
2) I honestly wasn’t even…[Read more]

Hi Nick,
First of all, thank you for sharing this with us all, it is SO important that you be open with any concerns, this way allowing yourself to find the answers and move forward, rather than the alternative of possibly just giving up.
This goes for everyone, if there is anything worrying you, you can either share it with the group and let me…[Read more]

Greetings Wing Chun family.
I know this forum takes on different forms of purpose for each of us but I wanted to briefly utilize it in a new way. I wanted to share my challenges this week, specifically the challenge of patience.
I don’t feel like I have modeled the virtue of patience very well this week. I just wanted to express this and a…[Read more]

Just in effort to help you keep awareness. section 7.3 in the library (last video) is a repeat of the one right before.
7.3 Chum Kiu Chi Sau Applications, Section 1: Pie Jarn is actually a repeat of Chum Kiu Applications, Section 1: Jeng Sau (right before)
Thank you for all that you do!

Dear Sifu Colin Ward,
Hope you are in good health.
Due to different time zones I was not able to attend your live sessions but all got well due to your session recordings. Thanking you for same. Now from some months back I took time to practice Wing Chun and had noticed that the websites Wing Chun Video for Module “14.4 Knife Form Applications –…[Read more] -

100% regarding the first Lan in CK being a pie jarn too, and so easy to see an application within this visual I think.

If I may inquire further into elbows; in chum kiu, would the first “passive” lan sau actually be a pie jarn because it is in transit?
I only ask to see if I should focus more on my elbow coming around vs presenting my elbow forward.
Clearly I’m focusing on elbows lol. -

Awesome! Thank you for the visual answer💯
It’s kinda funny how such a simple question transcends the basic understanding but still remains a basic principle.
Taking a pie jarn to chair pie could be broken down to poon sau. Seems like such an advanced technique yet, we’ve worked on it so much.
This is about the time I decide to go back to the…[Read more] -

“Pre Ip Man, the 3rd form tried to show the 3 different elbows, kups for the double biu’s, gwoi’s for the high palms, and pie jars for the low palms, but all with the same stances.”
I’d be very interested to seeing what this would’ve looked like in the form. I cannot imagine it.
Is Ip Man the one who changed it?
