Hello Borden and welcome to the site!
And thank you also for your very kind words. 🙂
Sorry for the delay but I’ve been off the grid for a few days, staying in a Nomad Yurt. Cold weather and amazing stars, wonderful!
Anyway, yes you are right, lots planned, and SO excited for the new year.
Best wishes for 2017 and I look forward to chatting…[Read more]

Great to have you with us John, training with your wife sounds like a good idea.
Also good to join a school if possible (for chi sau etc.), but it may be a good idea for you to study here a little first and then you can make an informed decision on wether those schools seem right or not.
Perhaps if yourself and any training buddies you gain…[Read more]

Hi Steve and welcome to the site!
Do let me know if you need any help along the way.
Do you have training buddies lined up yet or are you training solo first?

Hi Robert,
Erm, good point. I’ve just been looking through and you’re right, it’s missing?
I’m away teaching for a couple of days now and have gradings to do today so can I search for it when I’m back?
Please ask me again if I’ve not got back t you with success soon.

Hi Joni,
I’m sure I answered this as I even know what I said?
Anyway, here goes again, probably a shorter version though. 🙂
What I’s said before is that I’m glad you are learning but it’s probably not muscle MEMORY, as it’s not muscle, AND if you’ve just started to experience it then it’s not really a memory. Also do remember there are 2…[Read more]

Hi Joni,
What you say is correct.
We try to block and counter at the same time, we try to keep calm and relaxed (not easy to do when you fear for your life!). If you can relax just a little bit in the fight it will make you faster. It will also make you more aware and therefore see the danger early. Seeing the danger early will also help you…[Read more]

Hi Joni,
Learn the basics yourself before you get to the buddy stage, then at least you know what you are looking for before trying to get perfect.

Hi Joni,
Not ALL of your weight, about 70% on your back leg and 30% on your front leg.
The first Biu Mar video will explain this for you better 🙂

Hi Dave,
I think we had this issue once before, but as this did not prevent the person from moving forward in their training, and was purely cosmetic, we let it go as ‘not a priority’. Is this the case for you, are you still able to continue through the course?
If so I’ll see if our guy can have a look when he gets a chance (rather than as an…[Read more]

Hi Martyn,
Glad to see you’re still keen and now have a goal to focus on too.
The grading unfortunately is an all or nothing situation and will require myself and most likely another teacher sitting and studying all that is required in each level from the students posted video.
We have a new web guy onboard now who is in the process of…[Read more]

Hi Kit,
To hang the bag, have it about throat height as this means that you will have to slightly drop in your stance (and so working the legs too). If it’s too high then you’ll be standing bolt upright in order to punch it.
As for filling the bag, almost as full as you can, if it’s only half full then the filling will just drop creating a…[Read more]
