Hello Art and welcome back to the site.

May I start this message by passing on my condolences regarding the loss of your old teacher, sad news indeed.

I do love your view on the 3 stages of development, very good, and quite true, although gaining advancement through repetition is not always so simple.

You may have heard the saying ‘Practice…[Read more]

Hi Peter,

Nice to hear from you.

I’ll add some more soon but if you click on our shop, the first book “Principles and Techniques’ is a definite recommendation.

Hope this helps?

Hi Jeremy,

Firstly, would you please pass on my regards and respects to your JKD teachers.
I had the privilege of training with some JKD guys in the 1990’s in Scotland, they were great, the senior students of the Kraus brother (Dan Inosanto’s guys), I was there purely to teach them Chi Sau, they loved it. It was so strange for them to kind of…[Read more]

Hi again,

I’m glad you found the sparring fun and managed to get some WC in, although I do always cringe when a chat starts out in this way.

As you say WC is self defence and not sport and therefore often they do not merge well.

Imagine the situation, someone says;
“I train kickboxing, let’s spar”
You say no,
so again they say;
“I train…[Read more]

Hello my friend,

Well, what can I say?

Welcome to the site, I am so happy that you are enjoying it so much and thank you for such kind words.

Your reason for considering training alongside boxing and MMA is a good one (and would help keep you fit if I’m honest), however, do be careful not to get drawn into the over committing or relying on…[Read more]

Hi Peter,

Yes we do, this was supposed to be linked with the shop but after a shipping issue we changed suppliers, we hope it to be installed in the next few weeks.

Thank you.

Hi Jeremy and welcome.

Wow! That’s a lot of different styles and a lot of different disciplines.

Perhaps later I can give you some advice but for now, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Do you have training buddies lined up then?
I’m guessing some of your JKD pals may be interested where their techniques originated?
This is…[Read more]

That’s great news Peter, and the more arms the better.

If you ask friends or find new ones with an interest in learning, through links such as:
Facebook

Gum-tree
Twitter
Then that could develop into a good little group and allow you more scope to develop your skills.

If you go to ‘Course Progress’ and read what I put on ‘Training…[Read more]

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the group! 🙂

Unfortunately you will need a partner (buddy) at some time but there’s lots of work for you to do on your own first.

Below is a message I’ve sent out in the past regarding finding training buddies, see what you think:

The site is designed to teach you the whole Wing Chun system, step by step, stage by…[Read more]

Hi Christopher,

Welcome to the site and I’m sure you’ll learn LOTS! 🙂

However, regarding any equipment, we do not provide this but can recommend items to acquire along the way (if anything).

The first, BEST and cheapest thing you should get yourself is a mirror, full length if possible so you can check your positions etc.
Then one day you…[Read more]

Hi Rick and welcome my friend,

I saw you message yesterday but thought I’d wait to see if anyone else jumped on it yet. Just in case you’re interested here’s a few idea of where to find training partners.

Sources for buddies –
Facebook

Twitter?

Meetup.com is not one I’d actually heard of but it but I know someone in the…[Read more]

Hi Austin D!

As we’ve revamped the site our web guy has asked for any nice comments and I wondered if you mind me using yours?

I’m hoping you get to read this and that there’s no issue with this.

Please let me know, it will always be removed if you are not keen.

Do let me know how your studies are going and if you need any assistance?

Hi Matt and welcome!

Thank you for your very kind words. Now tell others! 🙂

Regarding centerline, I would not necessarily recommend books, but you have just inspired me to make a video or two explain this in simple terms and again in more detail. I’ll get on that asap.

If it’s not on the site in a couple of weeks, please remind me.

Thank…[Read more]
