Hello and welcome!
What a wonderful introduction, it really brought a smile to my face. 🙂

Hi Gregory,
I’m glad you’re enjoying your training and that it’s working already for you. Regarding the kick defence using the legs, I believe I’ve made a video on this but it in the ‘yet to be uploaded’ camp 🙂 and if it’s not then I’ll make it for you.
You are right about the effects of Karate, as wonderful a style as it may be, trained…[Read more]

Thank you again for your kindness.
Before I moved down to Northamptonshire I lived near Boroughbridge, so not too far from you.
We have a chi sau gathering at my school in Leeds next Saturday (15th) 11.00am – 3.00pm, if you would like to join us you would be very welcome, just let me know if I should look out for you.

That’s a shame about the 15th, you would have enjoyed it, maybe next time eh?
Making a diary for the site is a good idea, that way perhaps our overseas students may wish to consider planning ahead and attending an event.
Hope to see you in person one day soon.

Hi Simon and Stephanie,
Sorry to hijack your chat but it’s great that you’re in contact, all I wanted to say was please do try to make it to Leeds for the Chi Sau Gathering, you’ll really get a lot from it. There’s no pressure and if you want to sit out a couple and just watch, that’s fine too.
Hope to see you both then, and Stephanie, looking…[Read more]

Hi Gregory,
Thank you for getting in touch and sorry for the short delay (I started typing and then got dragged away).
I too started from a Shotokan background, 7 years up to Shodan level.
When in competition I started entering at Brown/Black belt category I didn’t feel I was very good. That’s not to say Karate isn’t good, I’m saying I didn’t…[Read more] -
Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic questions about punching? in the forum Members Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
Hi Mark,
WOW! It is amazing you ask about the 500 punches as this is the goal for July!
To answer your questions (and thanks for the post by the way):
When punching keep the hands relaxed throughout as this is just to gain speed.
This relaxation also goes for the back hand, so no solid fist but no open hand either, keep ‘punches’ as…[Read more] -

Hi Brandon,
Impossible to say, and also potentially irresponsible too.
Staring into someones eyes may result in a kick to the groin, and looking at the feet with bring you a bunch to the head, therefore I would suggest an all over peripheral, but even this gets confused depending on how far away you are and what your sight is like.
See…[Read more]

Hi Wayne,
You’re very welcome, that’s what I’m here for my friend.
If you want books to improve your Wing Chun, you need Wing Chun books, not JKD ones (only joking), there’s a few recommendations in our shop though (I don’t sell them, just provide the links) but the first one ‘PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES’ is a definite winner, simple but…[Read more]

Hi Wayne and welcome.
Wow! Good questions.
Sorry for any delay but I’ve been working on our new Facebook group, you’re on there aren’t you?Anyway, simple answers, right from the start:
With regards the back AND its muscles, anatomically we all need to use muscle, should we not, we fall down, it’s just a case of how much.

Hi Brandon,
Good question and thank you for your support Mauricio.
It may seem a little strange at first and is obviously best with a partner but this could also be trained solo by just trying to follow the principles.
For instance, when you first step up to Pak, your front hand should not move, therefore, present the guard and get used to…[Read more] - Load More
