Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Grading Question: Why No Pole Form? in the forum Members Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
Hi Justin,
Regarding the gradings, may I ask what you mean by an explanation?
Basically what we are looking for is clarity of technique combined with an understand of what we use as well as when and why we use it.
The reasoning for this is that the more you understand a technique, the more you can make it work for you.As for teaching, well…[Read more]

Our tech guy has gone to Ireland for a week to a wedding but as soon as he’s back we’ll be completing several jobs.
Please do be aware though guys that the โmark as completedโ button is only there for your reference and is not needed to open new levels, all you need to do is press the ‘Click to enrol’ button.

Hey Steve,
I’m sorry your journey to finding us was not altogether a pleasant one (to say the least) and I am glad you’ve found a training partner, but do remember to use this site to question everything. Just because someone says they’re a teacher and tells you how it is, does not always mean that that is the right path for you. Take on board…[Read more]

Nice question Jason,
You should put that on our Facebook group (are you on?).
My reasons were very similar to yours, wanting to improve on my Karate, until I saw how awesome Wing Chun was, then just stayed with it, since 1985!
Kind of getting the hang of it now. ๐

Hey Steve,
Good to know you’re sorted for partners.
Loving the College work too, a great way of getting new partners and extra interest in Wing Chun eh?
I’m teaching at a grammar school tomorrow from 7.30am onward, 8 classes of 50min each (always looking at the next generation).
I’ll check Facebook next and make sure you’re in,

Thanks for the explanation, that all makes sense, and your right about Wong, who I thought you were referring to.

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Grading Question: Why No Pole Form? in the forum Members Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
Hi Steve,
Biu Gee is the highest level, with the system traditionally being taught as:
Siu Lim Tau
Chum Kiu
Muk Yan Jong Fat
Bart Jam Dao
Biu Gee
and the pole form (Luk Deem Boon Kwon) being more of an ‘add on’.Therefore, the pole form in grading is under Biu Gee, the highest grade.

Hi Steve and welcome to our little community!
Sorry to hear of your teacher falling on hard times, very sad.
As for yourself, do keep an open mind, Wong Shun Leung was very much power based and 50/50 weight distribution in stance work (although a great drinker and a great laugh) I met him socially many times at his place in Hong Kong…[Read more] - Load More
