Hi Danny!
Very serious eh? Well done you!
Don’t worry about being on the beginner level, I have a feeling you won’t be there very long. 🙂
Do remember to keep me informed on your progress.

Hi Adam,
Hi Donald and thank you.
Not using the thumb works in the drill as this is a controlled, prearranged, agreed upon sequence, BUT the drill then becomes pointless and carries no benefits due to its impracticality.
Adam,
My simple principle is, ‘Never do anything you cannot recover from’.
If I Lap down with the thumb, and hold on, and…[Read more]

Hey Frank,
Not too sure about Aikido, if it’s sport aikido, no, but if it’s combat or traditional then everything has something to offer.
Master Ip Chun always says Judo would be the best addition due to that fact that after Wing Chun range a grapple is the only place left to go.Although, like you say, it may well be a sagged place to find partners.

Hi Adam,
I feel a blog coming on 🙂
In short, use the thumb AS SOON AS YOU ARE ABLE TO.
That, my friend is the biggest difference.
As this is such an interesting and simple point, I’ll write today’s blog on it and then we all share the wealth.
A fine contribution to the (re-)start of your training.
Check out the blog in a couple of hours.

Hi Chris,
First of all thank you for the kind words, really glad you’re enjoying the site (NOW TELL YOUR FRENDS!)
All you have to do is type into the search engine (the magnifying glass top right) – Siu Lim Tau – Section 3, Part 2
Then hit the one at the top of the list (5.5 SIU LIM TAU SECTION 3)
And it’s the 3rd one down.
Hope this helps,

Hi Frank,
Thank you very much, that’s very kind of you but I wouldn’t use your name anyway, wether you wanted it or not. Just to be sure.

Frank,
Am I ok to use your question exactly as it was written or would you like me to edit it a little?
Ideally I’d like to know your thoughts before I publish the blog.
Thank you,

Oh and I do have to add that the opening question to all of this does coma across a little like a challenge, so do be careful how you word your intentions.
Manners cost nothing and we should all try to to be respectful and courteous.

Hi Frank,
Not watched the clip yet, I just wanted to fire my first response before I did.
Sparring is ok to do, I’m just saying that if it doesn’t go exactly to plan, don’t be upset or doubt your style, you’re simply not using it in the way it was meant to be used.
As for styles competing, it is never the style but the person
And finally the…[Read more]

Hi Frank,
As soon as I saw your title I had a massive grin, forgive me.
Light sparring / training is always fun but you need to be aware of your restrictions.
What do I mean by this?
I’ve attached a blog from May 2017 that should explain perfectly. I hope you like it.
