Hi Toke,
It’s great that you’ve found somewhere to gain partner training, and please pass on my regards to the teacher there.
DO REMEMBER there will be differences, so do not be concerned, it’s only a different interpretation, YOURE WING CHUN is coming direct from Ip Man’s own son!
As long as he doesn’t stop you from training with us, all is…[Read more] -

Hi Jamie,
I’m not sure of the exact moves by just thinking of them, BUT, there are a couple of things to consider here.
Firstly, when I asked my teacher ‘Sifu Ip Chun’ (the boy on the tricycle), how much of this movie was true, he said, ‘A 3rd real, a 3rd exaggerated and a 3rd made up’.
We must remember that Wing Chun is small moves and although…[Read more] -

Hi Toke,
There are no DVD’s available and yes, a partner is going to be needed at ‘some’ point.
This post may help you a little:
Buddy finding / Creating a school
This site is designed to teach you the whole Wing Chun system, step by step, stage by stage, and in order (with more videos added all the time).
This will take a person from the…[Read more] -

Hi Michael,
Of course assessments are no essential, they are simply there as a way of you testing yourself and even gaining certification.
Grading aside though, you will need a partner at some point, as much as it pains me to say.
Someone once said, “Having no partner is like learning to swim with no water”, and as much as this made me chuckle…[Read more]

Hi Frank,
Nice to hear from you again.
I’ll get some more info regarding knife work to you in a while, possibly using one of my guys, already skilled in this.
And as for punching power from seated, this exactly explains ‘explosive’ energy and gives me an idea for another video.
I’ll think more on this and get back to you,

Hi Michael,
I’m finally back in the driving seat here, sorry for any delay.
Your goal is admirable and I see no reason why not.
Regarding what to do, I think you know the answer, train.
Keep training with me and I will take you all the way, no secrets and no BS.
I’ve been the disciple of Ip Mans eldest son for 30 years and am appalled by…[Read more]

Hi Steve,
All back to normal here now.
I did love your piece, but when you say the site ‘put my email, not the site, and then they mentioned the site anyway.’ what site did you mean?
It’s just that I didn’t see or hear any mention of a site? Did I?
I think I may need to watch that clip again. ๐

Hi Frank,
Just checking in again ๐
Sorry we seem to keep missing each other!
I’m away in Leeds teaching today, then tomorrow I’m giving a seminar in Hull, then Thursday morning I set off to Portugal.
How were the upper-cut videos for you, and BTW, did you get to view the knife video blog?

I plan to record this during August and it will be on the site before the next assessment opportunity.
Could you please remind me which link?
Thank you

The description you give is 100% correct, however, there is a simple rule of thumb to remember when questioning techniques on the dummy,
‘IT’S A TREE!’ ๐Therefore, sometimes things can change.
The middle arm for instance can be a kick or a low punch. Make it work FOR you to be anything YOU want to do.

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Shoulder pain in the forum Members Forum 8 years, 3 months ago
It may well be that your muscles are just adjusting but do keep an eye on it.
Perhaps leave the Bong sau for now and allow the shoulder muscles to heal and recover and even then maybe do not do so much.
Practicing 100 of anything (before you are comfortable with it) is always a risky thing.
Slow and steady is the way forward.
Again though I…[Read more]

Hi Pavan,
In simple terms we are all built slightly differently and what is comfortable for one person is not always the same for another.
In short, if it is not comfortable, do not do it.
You may be trying to light your elbow too high, if so, do not worry about this as you are moving out of the way too.
Does it hurt if your elbow only reaches…[Read more]

Hi John,
The youngest I teach in my school is 10 years of age, but these numbers are limited.
The main reasons for this is one, because of the nature of the style (and its counter strikes etc.) but also because if an adult is paying for training, they do not want to spend the evening babysitting, luckily we have enough members at the school…[Read more]

Hi Todd and welcome to the family!
All videos on all Modules are available to you all the time, whenever you want to go back (that is the best way of learning!).
The markers are just there to remind YOU (should you wish) of what you have already covered and where you left off, should there be a break.
Nice question :),
