Who is we?
I am teaching in a way that is both educational and physical at the same time (if you have a partner that is).
Too many people keep their students at a distance by keeping them on form work for as long as possible, my promise to my Sifu, Ip Chun (Ip Mans eldest son) was to have no secrets and to teach ‘Everything’.
If there is a…[Read more]

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Grading Process in the forum Members Forum 6 years, 3 months ago
Everything needed for the assessments are in the videos we show.
They ‘Can’ be found in the search engine but it is more important that you learn everything and not just what is needed to pass a grading.
A certificate will not save your life, but your training just might.

Hi Lee,
Quite a question there, and a lot of detail too.
First of all it’s great that you’ve been learning ‘Mo Jong’ and even better that you now have a dummy.
Have you looked at the dummy video yet WITH the dummy? It’s just that I think you will find all the answers you need that way, and you are right about trying not to lift the shoulders…[Read more]

Oh I see.
Well you take a look at what is needed in the first grading, video yourself training the required moves and then send it to me, the easiest way is to put it on Youtube and send me the link, you can always delete it afterwards if you wish.
We then view the recording and tell you whether it is a pass or a fail.

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Difference between Gor Sau and Chi Sau in the forum Members Forum 6 years, 3 months ago
Great question!
Think of Chi Sau (meaning sticking hands (of course)) as an umbrella, with varying stages, these are:
Dan Chi Sau
lap sau ex
Poon sau (rolling arms)
Gor sau (attacking hands) AKA chi sau (basically meaning that these are attack and defence coming FROM the roll)
Fan sau (continuous attacking hands) (this does not mean going crazy,…[Read more] -

Hi Rishabh,
I’m not quite sure what you mean?
First of all there is no ‘Sifu’ grading
The simple and direct answer to your question is that if you just want a black sash, go buy one.
Certificates aside for a moment;
If you want to learn the entire Wing Chun system up to the level of an instructor, then you’re in the right place.Study and…[Read more]

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Regarding Blog post ' Regard an old question on JKD' in the forum Members Forum 6 years, 4 months ago
Hi again Jake,
Regarding your concern:
Which 10 – 12 techniques, or combinations thereof, would you choose as your “go-to’s” if you had a heart condition? That is not really for me to say but what I would guess, would be the ones which take the least effort.
However, in saying that, THEY may not become apparent until ‘completion’ (whatev…[Read more] -

Worried about not having a partner?
If your reasons for learning Wing Chun are mainly for self defence then obviously you will need a partner at some point but do not let this hold you back.
As we say, there are lots for you to work on before even looking for one.
Regarding the running order of the videos, if you get to a class where we are…[Read more]

Hi Jake and welcome to the family!
Firstly there is no need to buy a dummy yet, and as for the rings, this may help:
Do you teach the rattan rings?
We do not teach the rings as my opinion is one that in order to hold the ring you must press outward, forcing the hands away from each other, should these positions then be trained without the…[Read more]

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Questions about evaluation in the forum Members Forum 6 years, 4 months ago
Where the assessment requires a partner, you will need a partner, such as Dan Chi Sau, Pak’s etc.
As for the length of video, you may break these up as you wish, although as much in one take the better (if possible)
I hope that makes sense?
Thank you
