Hi again Lee,
It’s not a blog as such, but just type ‘MISSING GUMS’ into the search tool and watch what it shows for section 7 and 8.
Thank you

Hi Lee,
Great questions as always, here goes… 🙂
Q/
‘Why do we not lap as in lap sau exercise? Meaning the lap is the wusau hand rather than the bong hand. The lap is the hand closest to the wrist? Obviously a double lap needs two hands with the second being closer to the torso.’A/
Simple answer, we’re not lapping the same arm, the attack…[Read more] -

Hi Norman,
You had me wondering there!
I’m not sure there is a full video of the form? How bizarre!
Here is a link to the sections in a mirrored break down, and I have also added a clip for you of me playing the form for myself, but at least you get to watch it complete.
Thank…[Read more]

A lot has changed over the years, especially in Hong Kong, when we all would train together in the VTAA, Ip Man’s actual school, perhaps I can take you there with me one day?

Just remember, it’s not wrong, it’s just different, and if it is a true lineage from Ip Ching then we are all from the same family.
Therefore, let’s all play and learn together, and share our experiences to make us all benefit.
Regards to your teacher there,

Ip Ching ‘does’ do this?
In fact I have a lovely photo of him using his punch/stance the same way we do, and even a video of Sifu Ip Chun teaching this while his brother was there?
Without wanting to sound disrespectful at all, I have known Wong Shun Leung keep 50/50 in his turning weight, and not sitting back because the Tan was ‘so’ strong,…[Read more]

Hi Brian,
We do have clothing in our shop (at least I hope we do!), if anything is down with it I’ll have it looked at straight away.
Always great to have a uniform I think.
The reason I feel this way is because it makes you look good, and when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you train better.
Simple.

Awesome.
It’s about getting the optimum angle in Tan which makes it strong, too close in and it can collapse, too far out and it can be pulled.
Happy training Michael!

Hi Lee,
I noticed there is something for me to watch, however, before I do, I’d like to answer the questions as I go through them, starting with:
Q.1/
‘Is the bong in fact in the form a wrong bong? because the next move is the step and tan which has me thinking you would be stepping back to the centre rather than to the side or outside of the…[Read more] -

Have a look around this area of videos, it should help:

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic Chi Sau positions in the forum Members Forum 5 years, 3 months ago
No problem, this should be clear in the video for this application, I’ll look for it for you.
As for the other points, in Dan Chi the back hand is in the same place as it would be in Siu Lim Tau, 1st sec. (the non engage hand of course)
And as for Lap Sau ex, a guard is a guard is a guard, by that I mean the Wu Sau should always try to…[Read more]

Hi Nick,
Sorry for the delay.
Is the instructor there Aaron Boey? He seems a nice guy, I like him.
As for teaching, yes Ip Chung was different, a lot stronger in his game play BUT, as he once said to me:
“My brothers wing chun is exactly the same as mine, only he also teaches the health aspect”
What he meant by this was that he had the…[Read more]

Wow, not sure what to say here as it’s not a so much a question but more a show of knowledge!
Well done you.The way that the form pattern is played, as a chi sau application this would be used when rolling as left tan/bong and right fook sau with the first app (going to the right side of the dummy) being the left hand lifting your partners bong…[Read more]

Hi Lee,
Kau sau means scooping hand – as it moves AROUND the opponents arm
Heun sau means circling hand – as it MOVES your opponents arm out of the wayHope that’s clear? 🙂
