Hello Richard!
To answer question number one,,, you must first bow down to your new alien overlords! 🙂
You made me chuckle there. The answer is that I realised it had not been reset, and then when I did reset it I mixed up the day with the month so had to redo it.
Very strange that you uploaded during that small window! As for the upload,…[Read more]

We are getting back to normal but at the moment, nowhere near as it was before.
Ever the optimistic though, we will be back soon, currently we are only meeting in person on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and at a new (though temporary) venue. Our previous ten year lease came to an end and ‘would have’ moved into a new longterm place, had covid not…[Read more]

Indeed.
Obviously do not book anything without checking dates etc with me first, as I may be out of the country, also, although my class is in Leeds (Yorkshire), I am in Northamptonshire, 150 miles away, therefore this may affect your booking plans.

All sounds good to me my friend, and it’s always good to have a plan.
Starting a group is a big 100% for me, in fact I encourage this from the start, this way you all learn together, with you being the organiser of meetings, and even deciding what to cover next, but with me being allowed to be the teacher.
Great news about the forms and yes, we…[Read more]

Hi Nick, great title :-),
It does appear that yes you are bashing the dummy, there may be a noise when making contact with the arms but do not mistake this sound for that of power being used, just think of ‘placing’ your arms from the one shape to the next.
Conditioning will come along with this training but it is not the reason for it.
Should…[Read more]

Sifu Colin Ward replied to the topic wallbag advice in the forum Members Forum 5 years ago
Hi Steve,
Firstly, when you hang the bag, do have the tope bag level with your chin, and ideally some separate hooks available so you can hang it lower still, so the bottom bag is then at knee height.
As for filling, you may hear of sand or rice etc. but these get too compact, get very heavy, and have zero give. The best thing to use is dried…[Read more]

Hi Derek,
You’re not the first to ask this question (oops, my bad), when I refer to ‘the library’ I am meaning the 500+ video classes, and not a separate area.
I do need to clarify this I guess.
Many thanks,
Sifu

Hi George,
You had me panicking there for a while.
I looked into the site and couldn’t find it either but then I realised why.
When you go to ‘Live Classes’ the link reads:
‘Available for 48 hours’That is because, for SERIOUS ABOUT members, after this time the link closes, sorry.
The VERY SERIOUS ABOUT membership carries two weekly classes…[Read more]

Howdy Steve, YEE HAR! 🙂
That is a fair question, although the base is weighed down by being filled with water, we mustn’t forget that it is still inflatable (using the foot pump), therefore it can be knocked over, yes.
BUT
The dummy form is there for training the positioning of your arms and NOT for the conditioning of them, so for this…[Read more]

Not really, it is what it is, a tree.
There are some benefits to the different heights, mainly in that they are at different heights! 🙂
But then again…
For me, I like the different heights because of its tradition and quirkiness, but the level arms does make more sense, in that if you are trying to to train both sides equally, have both…[Read more]

Hi Lee,
I’m back and finally had a chance to look at the video you referred to.
The principle here is quite simple, stepping straight in with a strike is dangerous, for both of you. Yes you want to hit but you need to do it safely, therefore when closing the distance remember to bridge the gap first, this is what we are doing when we control…[Read more]
