Hi Kalyan,
If a punch was throw (from distance) and you used a Bong, then yes, in that case the Bong Sau is there to block that punch, but as we are already in contact, your Bong is not there to block the punch, it is being used to show you how you react to a Lap Sau being executed, hence the name of the drill, ‘Lap Sau exercise’.
Always happy…[Read more]

Allow me to answer your concerns, as for:
‘The less questions is more so due to the lack of having an opportunity to share’I find it interesting, your wording of wanting to share?
If you wish to ask questions then yes, of course this is welcome, but you are there to learn, not to share.
I have spent 43 years (so far) studying a particular…[Read more]

Hi Ben,
Often on a Monday there may only be one person, therefore I allow that individual to have their questions heard, if there’s more than one, we train.
On Thursdays, when I see the chance to run through some moves, I run through moves, it’s as simple as that.
The live sessions are an opportunity for me to focus on precision in forms,…[Read more]

Joshua,
Have you seen the fast-track info on the homepage?
Both Jimmy and Nick were saying it would suit you to a tee.

Just in case anyone was wondering where this was going and if I had replied, Joshua and I had communicated on this topic separately.
This was purely because of it being of a personal nature.
Glad you’re now on track Joshua!
Sifu.

Hi Joshua and thank you for your question.
I’m currently on holiday in France (and not supposed to be online 🙂 but do like to check in when possible).
The simple answer is, ‘All the way’. depending on your view of what the system offers you.
Please allow me to elaborate on this in a few days.

Hi Ben,
A sense of flavour is an interesting description, it also makes me think of a sense of flamboyance, which is rarely ever for the better.
Ip Man said,
“Anyone can add on to a system, the secret is to try to take away, and still keep it pure”.What I teach is Ip Man Wing Chun, exactly as he taught to his eldest son, Ip Chun.
I try to…[Read more]

Correct Lester.
Benjamin, I am surprised you would need to ask the question of lineage?
As for other schools, we are not connected with them but we do show respect to them, especially the ones who have been kind in the past.
By this I mean Ip Ching, Wong Shun Leung, Chu Shong Tin and other, who have all been gracious with their time and…[Read more]

If Wing Chun comes from Shaolin, then it does indeed already hold true these methods.

Hi Herbert,
So sorry for my absence of late, been dragged away so much lately.
A great question and a common one, oh and thank you for your support in this Benjamin:
In truth, for the assessments yes, you would generally need a partner, just as the samples and clips show, however, this is not always possible.
I started WC.Online 15 years ago,…[Read more]

Hey Benjamin, thank you for your comments, however, if I may add to that:
When you say,
‘Bong sau is the response to the partner’s strike’, the Bong is actually the response to the Lap rather than the strike.
Master Ip Chun’s 5 principles for the exercise are:
1 – to attack
2 – to defend
3 – if lapped you bong
4 – if you bong, you turn
5 – if y…[Read more] -

Hello Rayhan,
Wow, it’s been sometime since I’ve been active within the forum, and blogs too for that reason, but this is because I have been focussing on the physicality of Wing Chun on a more direct line.
Anyway, it has been interesting to watch your video and to read comments connected with it.
In short, I think your punches are very good,…[Read more]
