Hey Nick,
Yes of course there is, everything has a chance of going wrong, and if it can, it probably will.
In theory you do not turn with an inside Pak but if the attack continues on its path, TURN! Then counter with a reverse Pie Jarn (A.K.A. an elbow strike to the face) followed with a Fak Sau, and hey presto, there we have a perfect…[Read more]

Hi you two and welcome again!
So sorry for yesterday but I did make an announcement on our Facebook group explaining that I’d lost my voice and therefore could not really explain anything that you would understand.
I did however upload a pre-record for you to train along with ‘as’ live.
Do let me know if thereβs anything to need, and do join u…[Read more]

Overall, very nice, well done!
A few points:
Sec 1 β after Bong to Lan, place the hand on the Lan before you turn your head in preparation for the next Bong, not head turn then hand place.
After the Bongs, hold the punch for a moment before rushing to the Fak Sau.
Sec 2 β with the twisting fist technique, try to stay sat back rather than lea…[Read more]

Hi Lee! Nice to hear from you, hope you’re well.
Hey Nick,
In simple terms they are there because we will never be in ‘the’ position we want to be in, therefore changes of position in Chi Sau dictate the rapid changes of position in that of a fight, trying to battle for your favourite place (inside or out) would be terrible short minded and…[Read more]

Hi Tom,
Of course the phrase is:
βAs soon as you USE it, lose it” and is a phrase I use rather than Sifu, but I must admit, the idea of Shocking Power sounds perfectly in tune with what I am getting at, as this is the effect it will have.

Hi Lee,
I’m jumping in at this point because as soon as I read…
‘I feel comfortable in all area but not overly as I do get hit.’
This made me think of a common issue… If you are doing everything you think you should be doing, think about the attack, sometimes it is your partner who may be sneaking something else in that goes against what…[Read more]

Very good, but do remember to keep your left arm locked at the end of the thrusting strikes.
This is the sane with the horizontals and the verticals, keeping the opposite arm locked as this gives the pivot required for the arm which is in motion (I do hope that makes sense?).
