So Ip Chun isn’t teaching the same way as WSL then? I heard WSL changed the style a bit. And when I’m talking about punching range, I’m not talking about turning to gain punching range, I’m talking about not going too far left or right so it doesn’t take you completely out of punching range. For example, if your opponent is in front of you, and…[Read more]

Thanks. I actually may have sent you the wrong video.
In this one here he talks about it. At around 2:00 in the video, he talks about people leaning too far to the left or right, which takes them too far away from the target they are suppose to be hitting.
I think I may have been doing this. Now when…[Read more]

He says in here that we shouldnt lean when doing the turning stance because it takes you further away from the opponent you are suppose to be close to to strike. Is right right? When I shift my weight during the turning stance to my left or right leg, should I not lean over too much so I stay…[Read more]

Thanks. I’ll check it out.
Is there any ground fighting in wing chun? As you probably know, youtube is littered with videos of kung fu guys getting taken to the ground with jiu jitsu and pummeled. What would an ideal wing chun fighter use against a jiu jitsu ground fighter.

Yeah, i’m not use to punching without the body weight. But it’s becoming more normal. The turning stance punch helps me put together the pieces. Some movements are done without the body, some are done with the body. Makes sense. Can’t use the entire body if you want to move fast with multiple strikes. Thanks.
Am I going to learn how to block high…[Read more]

Thank you sifu 🙂
What do you think about this video. He is using his entire body to throw wing chun punches.

Yes. This helps. I have more faith now. Thank you:) Another question. In other martial arts schools they punch with the first two knuckles because the meridians in the other knuckles are connected to the heart, and will damage it. I’m a bit nervous I’m going to damage my energy channels hitting with the last three knuckles. What do you think about this?

Thanks for the response Sifu. I’m still a little confused though. The wing chun punches isolate the punches from the rest of the body? There is no waist turning, body turning, anything, all the power is coming from the isolated arms? You don’t press off from the ground, turn on the heels, etc? It is a little confusing for me. I practiced chen…[Read more]

Hi Sifu. I can’t figure out how to rewatch the videos I’ve already watched. And also, with the wing chun chain punching, it looks like you weren’t moving your body, just your hands. How do you get power in the punches without pushing off from the ground and putting the whole body into the punch? Thanks

Hi Sifu. Sorry about the late response. I practice muay thai, chen family tai chi, and shaolin kung fu. I was originally just a taiji player, but the waist turning while rooted into the ground was completely destroying my hip joints for some reason, so I started searching for other martial arts. I’m looking for a martial art that doesn’t irritate…[Read more]
