As I am reading through old posts to find answers, as well as to find questions I have yet to ask,, I came across this thread. There is a substantial amount of quality Q&A here so, I wanted to move it to the beginning of the forum. Train well and be safe.

Hello !
I’m not sure if this is the place for it but because i couldnt find Sifu Ward’s email, i figured i would just start a thread to introduce myself to Sifu as well as any of my new Kung Fu brothers and sisters in wing chun.
I was raised doing martial arts, as my dad was during my childhood a federal agent and firearms/ combatives ins…[Read more] -

Thank you for your response, Sifu and Kanak, I completely understand and as I was mainly looking for a visual reference to supplement the written instructions, your videos are exactly what I was looking for and will be extremely helpful. Could I get a link to the Facebook group?

Hey i’m new to this program, sorry if this gets asked a lot, but I was wondering if I could see a video of the first assessment which scored a 1? I’ve read the requirements but seeing a video would make it easier to understand exactly what’s required, if that’s possible.

Like this
Or this
Like the stuff in aikido
I think the first video, the disarm is actually an aikido technique
Not for tap outs. But to disarm weapons, or break bones.

Hey sifu. What do you think about making some joint locking instruction videos in the future? Does wing chun have chin na?

Hey Sifu. I was watching two guys do full contact sparring at a Chu Shong Tin school. I was really impressed with them, and asked one of them what he was doing to get power in his punches. He told me he was using Taigong (contraction of the anus) and Sheng Hai (bringing qi energy up the spine into the crown of the head). Is there anything like…[Read more]

I’d actually much rather prefer using a bong sao to hit hooks upwards instead of biu sao. It’s so much easier.

Thanks for the video. Bringing the bicep up over the ear is one of the techniques I use now. I have to test the biu sao against strong hooks to see if I can stop them. What did you think about what i was saying the other day? About using a bong sao like a tak sao, and just hitting his hook up into the air with it.

Oh, I meant a bong sau not a biu sao. Using bong sau to block a hook by hitting it upwards.

Thanks 🙂
Can I just use a biu sao for a hook? I was thinking the other day, why don’t I just use the elbow to knock the hook upward. But then I thought, wait a minute, that is kind of like a biu sao. So I looked it up, and actually read about using the biu sao as a tak sao, and just knocking the hook upward. Seems like the simplest defense…[Read more]

Yes, I read it. Thanks.
I’ve been having some doubts lately about my ability to block hook punches. Could you make a video demonstrating the proper technique for it? Without the turning stance, or any body turning at all. I’m having trouble figuring out how wacking someone on the wrist with a biu sao while he is doing a strong hook is actually…[Read more]

Better to be a a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.
If someone doesn’t know how to fight, they are like a duck in a forest with wolves. Maybe they will go their entire life without getting eaten by a wolf, but it’s a sad way to live, completely dependent upon the hospitality of others.
I want to be a good fighter, that’s why I…[Read more]

“Also, regarding your question, why would you want to enter a situation of danger knowing full well that you are not permitted to use half of your arsenal?”
So I can get better at fighting. When I use to do muay thai, we would spar in class, and after getting punched in the face a few times, I became a lot more confident, and people that weighed…[Read more]
