Thought you’d be at class today?
Praise? Yes, I guess so. or as I call it, positive and encouraging feedback, something I believe credit where credit is due.
I did not say he was right, the punches were not (yet), but there were many solid qualities that should be recognised, embraced, and utilised.Regarding pressure etc.
We need to learn to…[Read more] -

Thank you so much Sifu, will practice as you suggested, one more thing is every time i revisit the basic punches, I am learning new things( the points i missed before ) . like you said, the force is from elbow,not from wrist. very well said, very well explained. Thank you so much , looking forward for more practice.

Unfortunately, whats seen on the video achieves these. Only moments you’ve given praise, I’ve made the moments extreme. Which will create poor habits. Because I have pressure experience, i am utilizing these sensations to establish appropriate stimuli so I have no guess work.

@Sifu,
Thank you for your response.
While practicing chain punches, I’ve noticed two different wrist mechanics.In one method, my wrist lifts slightly during the punch, and at the moment of contact, the bottom three knuckles tend to land. It feels like the wrist pulls back just before impact.
In the second method, I begin the punch with a…[Read more]

Hi Kalyan,
If a punch was throw (from distance) and you used a Bong, then yes, in that case the Bong Sau is there to block that punch, but as we are already in contact, your Bong is not there to block the punch, it is being used to show you how you react to a Lap Sau being executed, hence the name of the drill, ‘Lap Sau exercise’.
Always happy…[Read more]

If you could provide a video of your demonstrating the strike, it would clear up a lot of confusion. But I think I grasped your description.
Ive made a post with my doing SLT and you’ll be able to see what I mean regarding the strike.

I know a phenomenal, top notch school in Katy, but thats a ways travel. I’m in Indiana. If youre ever in the state, hit me up.
Regarding the vertical strike, there’s something called Chung di luk, locking position. When you make a fist, bend the wrist by tilting the fist thumb side towards yourself. This will give way for improved shape,…[Read more]
