Whats the rescheduled timings ? Have been trying to find right time to join the class, could you tell us the time with respect to CSt?
I have been going through the basic module again and again, I see Sifu mentioned about if its long range we should use kicks? But until basic module 2 haven’t see kicks yet.:-) just asking how can I add them too…[Read more]

Sifu,
The videos are identical on this page, so you might need to relink the correct video to 8.2.
Thanks!

Hi Benjamin and thank you for your kind answer.
It is indeed a good thing to wish to learn more, after all, the better you understand how a move works, the better you will make it work for you.
At the same time however, Wing Chun is design to work in harmony with your body’s natural reactions, and for this reason, on occasion, we do need to just…[Read more]

I have been guilty of being seen as simply questioning, however the intent has always been to learn and understand. I cannot simply accept what is given without scrutiny. I apply this to all within my life as I focus on understanding deeper than surface level, as majority of individuals wish to remain. There have been very rare occasions that a…[Read more]

And……. relax. š
I thank you for your passionate response Colin, and for such kind words, but it’s ok my friend, I’ve got this one.
You have been very kind (and direct) here Colin, however, it can sometimes, take some students longer to create open-mindedness than others, this is all I think we are seeing, so let’s all try to be…[Read more]

Ben,
You need to stop wasting my Sifu’s time asking questions which go beyond your understanding. My PhD training was easier to understand than your posts.
I have trained in martial arts for over 50 years and I train with Sifu in person each week and yes he is the real deal and his knowledge is second to none.
The fact you seem to question…[Read more] -

Hey Ben, here we are again.
When I teach a class, it is not there to have give the answers, everything is open to interpretation is it not.
Regarding three dimensions, the blocks, or shapes, or drills given, where simply to give an idea to get you started, and to be honest, that whole first major paragraph got me lost.
You must learn to take…[Read more] -

I have been reviewing the recording for 20251124. Nick brought up a great idea and it had connected with my own training.
While studying the content, I noticed the emphasis on the three directions. I quite agree on there being three, but what I found puzzling is an emphasis on directional expression. Sifu Ward contributes the directions to the…[Read more]

Like in Dan Chi Sau, we need to realise that this is a drill, so when you are lapped, you Bong, great, job done.
Now for more details…
For your PARTNER (not opponent), once the contact from the punch is met with a Bong, the exercise is finished, we have completed the micro-focussed element we were looking at, so now we can repeat this on the…[Read more]

Hi Ben,
Please allow me to address your points.
‘Iām struggling to move backwards with this half step as majority of weight is on a single leg.’
Well, this is exactly what I mean when I say, if you lift this back foot then you fall, utilising the fall is the acceleration to gain for the speedy retreat, and I might add, the lack of t…[Read more]

Sifu —
I am going through the lap sau excercise in biggner module 1 last lesson,
why are we keeping our punch at top level , if you see in this video too, the punch is not straight, normally if bong sau is used to defend straight punch ( i believe, we dont use bong sau to defend punch ,instead, to come into bong sau, you have to punch too, when…[Read more]

The weight on hind leg forces an increase of effort. I’m not shifting forward to move backwards. I’m struggling to move backwards with this half step as majority of weight is on a single leg.
As for the term rhythm, I’m aware and agree on your description. However I seem to use an improper description. I am referring to the pace of the drill.…[Read more]

Hi Ben,
Let me address these in order.
‘The increase of weight on the back foot is demanding an increase of effort to move’
If this is referring to Biu Mar then how are you stepping?
To go forward all we need to do is push off from the back leg, if this is to go backwards, then there is a strong chance you are shifting the weight forwards in…[Read more] -

I am finding it a struggle to effectively move with the weight being 70/30 (most on back foot). The increase of weight on the back foot is demanding an increase of effort to move. There is a “stiffness” experienced creating a large delay in what is to be executed.
So long as the drill’s rhythm is slowed, this issue is absent. However when…[Read more]

Much better!
But still a couple of points,
1- Lift your chin, this helps you relax and builds confidence.
2- Most important now, is to focus on switching off immediately after the impact.
Keep up the good work.

Interestingly, all my questions are answered in 1.3 basic punches š , the circular motion, the hammer fist.
@Sifu – Thank you for the detailing. Instead of asking all my questions, I think first i need to write down and see all your videos š , they will be automatically answered. Thank you so much. -
