Are Forms Really That Important?
Of course they are.
Your forms are the manuals to the system and the theory to your practice.
Think of it like this:-
A Tan Sau can be used in many different ways;
Higher – Lower
Extending Forwards – Retracting Backwards
To the Left – To the Right
Turning Stance – Standing Straight
Stepping Forwards – Stepping Backwards
Even Defending or Attacking
BUT
Before we can change something we need to know what it is we are actually changing.
A default setting if you like.
THIS is why forms and positions etc need to be precise and perfected.
Applications may be open to interpretation but forms need to be prefect.
Otherwise you’ll find the book of knowledge being passed down with many pages scribbled over or ripped out.
